The Italian Internet of Things market in 2019 reaches a value of 6.2 billion euros, with a growth of 1.2 billion and 24% compared to the previous year driven by both the more consolidated applications that exploit the “traditional” cellular connectivity (3.2 billion euros, + 14%) and those using other communication technologies (3 billion, + 36%). Smart Metering and Smart Asset Management in utilities are the first segment of the IoT market, with a value of 1.7 billion euros (+ 19% compared to 2018), equal to 27% of total turnover.
These are some of the results of the research, to which also contributed by Tiesse S.p.A, of the Internet of Things Observatory of the Politecnico di Milano presented today.
